…And So I Put Your Shirt On
Long days; such long days, such lonely, lonesome long days
Nights stretch on and on, stretch on and on without you near
I long to feel your warm, sweet, warm, sweet grazing fingers
I long that you would hold me, that the long nights disappear
Life goes on, yet I’m so lonely, lying here without you
And so I put your shirt on, and I wear your shirt to bed
I know that you are missing, you are missing our love too
But in your shirt, I feel, I feel your sweet kiss on my head
My empty bed’s so very cold, cold sheets so very empty
I stretch to feel your warm hand, feel your warm hand holding mine
I long to see your beautiful, shining eyes gazing on me
I long to taste your lips’ dolce, lips’ dolce nectar wine
Life goes on, yet I’m so lonely, lying here without you
And so I put your shirt on, and I wear your shirt to bed
I know that you are missing, you are missing our love too
But in your shirt, I feel, I feel your sweet kiss on my head
My heart is ever aching, ever aching for your love
Time passes on without your loving, tender, loving kiss
I long to have you fill me, fill me once again, sevgilim
I long to have you hold me, hold me in love’s magic bliss
Life goes on, yet I’m so lonely, lying here without you
And so I put your shirt on, and I wear your shirt to bed
I know that you are missing, you are missing our love too
But in your shirt, I feel, I feel your sweet kiss on my head
My soul’s paid bitterly, longing to again be with its mate
Months pass relentlessly in despair’s solitary hues
I long to hear you say, hear you say “I love you, aşkim”
I dream that love’s enough, would be enough for you to choose
Life goes on, yet I’m so lonely, lying here without you
And so I put your shirt on, and I wear your shirt to bed
I know that you are missing, you are missing our love too
But in your shirt, I feel, I feel your sweet kiss on my head
… and so I put your shirt on, and I wear your shirt to bed
In your shirt I feel, I feel your sweet kiss on my head
