Fallen Leaves Dance
The days go by, I sing a song of hope with you, “Remember”
As autumn creeps its way to life as we approach September
The leaves are changing, and August tires, fading like the leaves
Soon, summer will be just a memory, as winter comes and cleaves
Dusty brown, the dead leaves dance in a swirl of fallen life
Swallowed by encroaching winter, disintegrating in strife
The crispy air of breaking dawn with temperatures dropping low
The geese in a frenzied flurry leave; they know it is time to go
The grass, once verdant, now lifeless gold, fading away to naught
Summer heaves its last goodbye, wrestling to stay, though fraught
Come autumn, but please wait a while, your welcoming arms at rest
Let us enjoy this final dance of September’s summer’s best
