In the Background
In the background of darkness is always the light
Never can dark conquer God’s love
Never can a day be so bad
That He won’t reach out His hand from above
In the background of fear, there waits our faith
Though unseen, we still believe
Nothing tangible, but as real as our breath
Fear only lingers nearby to deceive
In the background of anger, joy surely awaits
Though impossible to reach it at first
As soon as we decide to let love in
Rage dissipates, and we’re over the worst
In the background of today is the seed of what’s next
A gift we may only know by tomorrow
Wisdom is gained through pushing past hard days
And choosing peace and joy over sorrow
