Standing Tall
Howling, you search me dripping with hate
Telling me you were always my God-written fate
You claw, you harass, you crush, and you break me
But still I am standing, still you can’t take me
Whispers of echoes, screeching in the dark
Aimed true and steady, knife aims the mark
A place so familiar you have pillaged for years
The ground of my ashes and harrowing tears
You are but a memory that yet wants to live
I resist, you press harder, and yet I don’t give
Your fury so palatable that it rages eternal
My cyclone of terror; wars forged internal
I see you, I hear you, but you cannot come in
I’ve fought way too hard; you will never win
So rage on, send your best, give it your all
Like a reed in the tempest, I am still standing tall
