The Eye of the Hurricane
the eye of the hurricane floated my way
after decades of fighting the storm
born into a raging tempest
fury and hail were the norm
the eye of the hurricane crossed my path
sun lit the sky first time years
wearing a smile as the sun kissed my skin
caressing away all my tears
the eye of the hurricane shadowed my fears
the calm, almost believable
suddenly, life seemed alright
peace seemed to be finally achievable
the eye of the hurricane pulled at my heart
giving a hope of no end
in praises to heaven, I lifted my voice
maybe now love was my friend
the eye of the hurricane showed me his mirror
the storm had never gone by
it was just an illusion clouding my heart
it was nothing more than a lie
the eye of the hurricane bid me adieu
the demons returned ten-fold stronger
the tempest enraged at the calm I’d felt
peace within was not mine any longer
the eye of the hurricane, forever gone
the storm strangling hope and heart
furious gales ripping my soul
see? love was not mine from the start
as I fade away, ripped by the waves
please sing me a song of calm once again
eternal squall wreaking havoc throughout
come back to me, false eye of gain
