The Funny Little Freckle
The funny little freckle
Sat upon my face
In the middle of my nose
It had its special place
Everyone who saw me
Saw my freckle first
It really was that obvious
I felt I had been cursed
The freckle grew, and so did I
Nicknamed “Freckles” with a smile
I’d put Mommy’s makeup over it
But it’d only last a while
One day, we went shopping
In a huge department store
I was looking at the Barbies
When I couldn’t find Mom anymore
I cried and called her, then thought
I’ll walk out to the car
The store was big, the people tall,
Even that seemed much too far
I finally found the entrance
As I cried for Mommy more
Then I was startled as a kind man
Stopped me by the door
He spoke into a microphone
Before he smiled at me
“I’ve found our little Freckles,” then said,
“Mommy’s waiting, come and see”
I was so afraid I stood there scared
He smiled so nicely, then he said
“Your mom said
When we look for you
We’ll know you by your freckle, brownish-red”
So now I think my freckle
Though it walks in the room first
Might have helped to save the day,
Or perhaps from something worse
